SPACES WE LOVE I CONTEMPORARY SIDE SPLIT

In Living Colour

From the outside, Lindsay and Cory Down?s pretty family home has a lot in common with the others in this well-kept Strathcona Park neighbourhood. On the inside though, this 1,800-square-foot, side split home is alive with colour and personality. Lindsay, who has a background in interior design and colour consulting, works full-time as a designer and space planner. She also runs a home-based business called Pure Colour Baby (purecolourbaby.ca). Cory is in the customer service industry. As parents to an elementary school-aged daughter and a toddler son, they have created an open-concept, contemporary space that perfectly suits their family and lifestyle. Cory and Lindsay grew up in Trenton and met while playing in a band. The couple moved to Kingston in 2002? drawn here by the arts and entertainment scene?and eventually purchased this home in March 2011. The neighbourhood demographic is changing ? with an influx of young families, and the couple loves that the area is friendly, central and has excellent schools. The biggest transformation was seen in the kitchen where walls were removed, opening the space up to the whole main floor.
